With the 21st century upon us, we increasingly hear feminists harping about male dominance over the female. For the most part these complaints center on spousal abuse, unequal pay and treatment in the workplace, and sexual exploitation. In the latter case I am frequently vilified as an example of how men exploit women. Every model who appears in this magazine does so voluntarily and is well paid—up to $5,000 for a day’s work. Just who is exploiting whom in that situation? And who, I ask, is being exploited when a male empties his wallet to pay for dinners and flowers in a feverish effort to win a female’s ultimate approval—telling a guy she’ll sleep with him? Indeed, it’s the female’s cunning tactic of withholding sex that has made me a wealthy man. If women gave it up all that easily, there wouldn’t be such a great demand for adult material. As for the rest of this patriarchy crap, female emancipation has made great strides over the past 50 years. From the beginning my company has placed women in upper-echelon positions, including the current chief editors for two of our men’s magazines (BARELY LEGAL and HUSTLER FANTASIES), not to mention a number of vice-presidents. Let me tell you, there’s no discrimination around here. I wonder how many women’s publications can say the same. As for America’s households, the lawbook overwhelmingly favors the opposite sex. One grievous example? In most states men are forced to financially support children fathered by another man as the result of a cheating wife’s illicit affair—even after the couple is divorced. Regarding spousal abuse, if a man even touches a woman in anger, he will (in the majority of cases) be convicted of assault. Such a charge can never be expunged from his judicial record. The irony is that at a time when the playing field is finally achieving some semblance of fairness, many women are bitching even louder than ever. My response? Get a grip, ladies. There is no conspiracy. We’re all trying to work things out. Larry Flynt ![]() |
